Nine products, one building, one system the customer can see

Power One, a power and energy solutions brand, makes rooftop solar, hybrid inverters, battery storage, online and modular UPS, voltage stabilisers and EV chargers. Customers met them one brochure at a time. HMC built an interactive 3D model that shows all of them working together on a home, a shop, a factory and a fuel station, through a full day, a grid failure and a sizing estimate.

The Challenge

A full energy portfolio, sold one box at a time

Customers bought a UPS or an inverter. Few saw how solar, storage, backup and charging fit together on their own site.

Nine brochures

Each product had its own leaflet and spec sheet; the system story was left to the salesperson.

Energy flow is invisible

Where solar goes at noon, what the battery does at 7 pm, who pays for the evening peak: hard to explain on paper.

Outages are abstract

Customers did not see that a correctly sized system carries the site through a grid failure.

Sizing came later

Solar and battery sizes and the savings case arrived weeks after the meeting, by spreadsheet.

HMC Approach

From product catalogue to a model customers can walk around

Built with the Power One sales and product teams, and published as one file that opens in any browser.

Select a step to see what happened.

Discover · What customers ask in the first meeting

Sat in on sales calls across segments.

  • Which products sell together, and which never do.
  • The three questions every customer asks: what does it save, what happens in a power cut, how big.
  • Specifications from the published product pages.

Deliverable: Product-by-site map and pitch storyline.

Design · Four sites, one story

A recognisable building for each segment.

  • Home, shop and office, factory, fuel station.
  • Colour-coded energy flows: solar, battery, grid, EV.
  • Five moves for a meeting: site, tour, outage, day, size.

Deliverable: Storyboard and interaction design.

Build · A browser model, no install

Built with GenAI-assisted coding on WebGL.

  • Procedural 3D buildings, panels, cabinets and chargers.
  • Hourly energy simulation with day, night and outage.
  • Product cards and a sizing calculator inside the model.

Deliverable: Single-file 3D experience.

Adopt · Into every first meeting

Sales opens the site that matches the customer.

  • Guided tour on a laptop or a large screen.
  • Grid-failure moment to make the case for storage.
  • Sizing estimate shared the same day.

Deliverable: Sales playbook.

Scale · Dealers, website and events

The same file travels.

  • Dealer training and showroom screens.
  • Auto-rotating embed for the website and trade shows.
  • New products added as the range grows.

Deliverable: Roll-out kit.

The Solution

The actual model. Try it.

This is the Power One model as delivered. Drag to turn, scroll or pinch to zoom, tap a label for the product card. Or run the five-step pitch below the model, the way the sales team does.

Impact Dashboard

Customers buying the system, not the box

Once customers saw the products working together, proposals carried more of the range.

Key Takeaways

What any multi-product maker can borrow

01

Show the system, not the SKU

Customers buy more of the range once they see the pieces working together.

02

Make the bad day visible

A live grid failure makes the case for storage better than any spec sheet.

03

One file travels furthest

A browser model goes to dealers, websites and trade shows without an app.
